I applied for a used auto loan through usbank.com. The automobile I was looking to take a small loan on ( ~ $6000.00 - ) was a 10 year old vehicle with 140,000 miles on it. After I completed an application and my credit was pulled, a representative from USBank called me, and told me there was no chance I was going to be approved, not because my ( outstanding ) credit was bad, but because they have an internal policy at USBank that they can not loan on vehicles of a certain age or mileage. I expressed my concern that they pulled my credit, something that will affect my credit score for up to three years, when I should not have even made it through the application phase. I filed a complaint asking them to remove the credit inquiry with the credit bureaus. After a month I received a form letter informing me that they would NOT remove it, since it was part of their application process. The letter stated I could only further investigate it if I believe fraud or identity theft was the cause. If a company has such simple rules for loans, then it should be front and center in the application process. I feel like I have been victimized here, that my credit has now been negatively effected, and that US Bank does not want to take responsibility.
