Unable to get credit report/credit score Problem getting my free annual report North Carolina

I heard about the CFPB 's lawsuit against TransUnion & - re : misleading consumers into signing up for their credit monitoring service and wanted to add my complaint. I do n't need a refund, as I do n't believe I was charged more than $1.00, but I wanted to share my story. Last year I inadvertently signed up for TransUnion 's credit monitoring service, thinking I was only requesting my free annual credit report. It was not made clear that I was signing up for a subscription service that would cost a monthly fee. The site did say that I would be charged $1.00, which I thought strange since I thought consumers were entitled to a free report every year. But, since I was n't sure, I went ahead and authorized the $1.00 payment, thinking it was for my credit report. Turns out it was their promo fee for the monthly subscription. It took a while for me to figure this out, but once I realized the mistake I was able to cancel my subscription before they began charging me. Thankfully, I only lost $1.00.
