Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Maryland
My husband - - had a Care Credit account in his name, I was never listed on the bill or had a card in my name I was an authorized user. My husband passed away in - of this year with no assets there is no estate or probate. I sent a letter to the company with a copy of the death certificate and notified the there are no funds to pay this bill and ask them to close the account. Instead they put the account in my name without my permission and are now holding me responsible for the bill over $8000.00. Bill collectors calling day and night. I spoke to someone in customer service today and explained the situation again and was told that it was a joint account - I asked for proof - it will take 40 days to mail me a copy of something showing that i am responsible for the bill. They wo n't put a hold on the account until I get that info and the late fees keep adding up and they told me I would be reported to the credit reporting agencies. I can not pay this bill and Care Credit. In - Care Credit became associated with Synchrony bank and sent new cards - this time there was - for me that I have never requested and have n't This compnay will not work with me any way - they want their money and that 's it. I need help. I consulted an attorney through my legal services plan and he advised me that I am not responsible for debt that was in my husbands name or any debt that has me listed as an authorized user or secondary name.
