Equifax Credit reporting department,
Incorrect information on credit report Information is not mine Wisconsin
I was made aware of a false collection report that appeared on my Credit Report through - -. I opened up a dispute to the claim, but feel there are more important questions for an oversight entity to find out and get answers. First question, how does a debt collection agency add an item to someone 's report without having proof of debt, and second question, what proof of debt is required to add such item ( SSN, their say so, or a contract with my authentic and original signature )? According to this occurrence, there is nothing in place to prevent these types of bogus claims being reported on somebody 's credit report to protect the consumer, which is what the CFPB is supposed to be protecting and overseeing the Credit Reporting Bureaus, and making sure they are reporting the most accurate information available. If the appropriate information is not available, then it should not be added. I would also like to know what is deemed as " appropriate information '' would be needed to add such a claim to a credit report.
