Hold on to hat, this is good one. The credit card companies have figuered out that their best payors, ( those payors who pay their credit cards online the day they become available ) can be hit with late fees by stating that their payments were processed in the previous month 's cycle. - - - hit me with it about 4 months ago and my Wells Fargo credit card online statement which showed up today has started the fradulant fee process as well. For clarity I will explain the process as it rolled out on my Wells Fargo account. The exact process occurred on my - - - credit card during the months of -, - and - of this year.


listed ( $80.00 ). I processed a payment of $82.00 that day. I always pay my credit cards the first day they are available to pay. Now satisfied I have paid the current month I no longer access the account online until the next month becomes due. This morning ( -/-/16 ) I access my Wells Fargo account online and my minimum payment due has jumped from $80.00 due to $180.00 due. Also, I notice my interest fees have increased by about $30.00 ( from around $42.00 per month to around now $68.00 ) I call Wells Fargo to find out what the deal is and am told that my previous month 's payment ( in - ) was processed before the closing date of the - statement and that payment made was structured as an extra payment for - EVEN THOUGH online it gave me a new balance for the - statement, new due date, and minimum due for the next month. Essentially the credit card companies are screwing their best payors who do not scrutinize their balance but just pay it immediately. The credit card companies have figuered out that the number of people who catch the fees and complain are far less than those who simply pay without checking. This has class action written all over it.
