Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I had an account that fell past due. Very past due. The creditor issued me a - and said the balance was forgiven. However it 's still reporting on my credit report as a balance due. I contacted them to pay it off in full, and they refused payment. They said the debt was forgiven. How is the debt forgiven, but still showing as an outstanding debt on my credit report, all while they refuse to accept any payment from me at all? When I call, they read me a disclosure in the begining of the call saying that It 's past the statute of limitaitons and I am no longer legally obligated to pay. If I choose to pay or make any payment, it will restart the statute of limitations and I could be sued. I immediately tell them I understand and would like to pay it off, and they say " sorry, we cant accept a payment ''.
