Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't get flexible payment options North Carolina

I am the co-signer for my daughter 's - Navient student loans which have been in default for approximately seven years. I am - and it is recognized by the Social Security -. I am also bankrupt. I filed Chapter - in - and - - in -. For years I have contacted Navient numerous times to try to get this loan out of my name since I will never be able to afford to contribute to its balance. I am not requesting that the loan is dismissed and forgiven ; I am requesting for these loans to be taken out of my name. I was told by Navient of ways to have my name removed ; however, they were very expensive and not an option for me. I have asked numerous times why it is - 's policy that the co-signer can not removed from the loan based on their -. No one has ever been able to give me an answer other than saying it 's - 's policy. It was also recommended by a Navient representative to have a - form completed by the doctor and returned to - for review to see what happens. I did

I immediately called the collection agency. The lady I talked with said she would note my account in the computer and send it to some department. She suggested that I call back in two weeks for an update. I called today, - -, -. A different lady had no idea what I was referring to as she said my file was not forwarded. She then transferred to a manager. This male manager with an attitude was not knowledgeable and incorrect in some of his statements to me. He said that these private loans can not be forgiven by borrower or co-borrower. I asked him why is there such a form if that is the case. I feel that this policy is unfair because the borrower can apply for relief if he or she is disable, but the co-borrower can not. The co-borrower is human as well and can become - and unable to repay the debt.
