Barclays PLC Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Washington
Someone fraudulently opened a credit card in my name and ordered an - laptop. They had it sent to my house. I contacted - right away and they said they would send me a return slip which they did and I used it and returned the laptop. The email and return slip looked legit but apparently they were n't and I sent the laptop to the perpetrator and - never received it back. I sent proof of all this, which I will attach, to the credit card company ( BarClays ) but they are saying I benefitted from this and will not take it off my credit report. This is negatively affecting my credit. And I have not received one letter from them stating why they think I benefitted. I spoke to them on the phone and they said it was because - did not receive the laptop back. If you can help me it would be much appreciated.
