Closing/Cancelling account Ohio

I checked my credit report on -/-/2016 to learn that Synchrony Bank closed my - - - Credit Card for non activity and carrying a $0.00 balance on -/-/2016. I called Synchrony Bank on -/-/2016 to re-open the account and they refused and told me to re-apply and that it can not be re-opened if closed for non activity. All my other creditors allow me to re-open accounts without a problem. Im not re-applying for another account just to have a hard credit inquiry on my credit report. These creditors get you coming and going.
