Army and Air Force Exchange Service Credit Card Complaint

Payoff process

Army and Air Force Exchange Service Credit card department,

Payoff process Washington

-/-/-, The " Take It Home Credit Card '' program was discontinued. I continued to pay my balance, unable to charge anything to the credit card. -/-/- I paid $2900.00 with a remaining balance of $710.00. In - I started an automatic payment of $50.00 per month and have continued to pay monthly. -, I received a bill of $200.00 with $100.00 past due. I contacted the exchange program via phone and they told me my minimum payment has been $100.00 since -/-/-. They said that the minimum payment due was calculated from the last time something was purchased, and the only way to reset the minimum payment due would be to purchase something on the card, although discontinued. Then they stated that I was unable to reset my minimum payment due. From -/-/- to -/-/-, I have paid a total of $3400.00 to the account. If I had just paid minimum payments from -/-/- to -/-/-, I would have paid $1000.00 in total. This does not seem fair since the total owed right now is $290.00, and they are asking for - of the total remaining balance ( $200.00 ). It is also unfair because I am not able to reset my minimum balance based on what is owed, and the company claims they are unable to do the same because it would be " fraud ''. How is it they can set the payment based on the total balance since my last purchase, but they ca n't set it based on the remaining balance and what is actually owed on the account? Another thing the company said is that you can only prepay up to 6 months and then they start requesting the minimum due automatically and this ca n't be changed. Would n't the money I have been paying since the large prepayment count towards repayment as well? None of this seems legal or fair to the consumer.
