Barclays PLC Credit card department,
This complaint is associate with my - - -. " Convenience '' checks carrying a 0 % APR were recently sent along with my monthly statement. The description of " Fees '' associated with these checks only refers to " balance transfers '', which are subject to a - % fee or $5.00 whichever is greater. I used - of the convenience checks to pay a contractor working on my house, these checks were NOT used to transfer the balance of another credit card. The - checks were written for $2500.00 and $240.00 respectively. I was charged fees of $100.00 and $9.00 respectively for using the checks. I called the credit card company to protest the fee, explaining that the fee description only mentions balance transfers as being subject to a fee, and that I did NOT transfer a balance from another credit card. I repeatedly stated my case and requested a refund of $100.00 - the combined total of the - fees. The credit card company has refused to issue me a refund. I find their description of fees for the use of these checks to be totally misleading and deceptive.
