Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I recently opened an Amazon Store credit card, issued through Synchrony Bank. About a week after opening the account, I was notified by Amazon security department that my amazon account was compromised, and unauthorized purchases had taken place. They locked my account, and cancelled all unauthorized orders, which all contained e-gift cards that were claimed by people who I have never heard of. Amazon sent me an email saying all transactions were being reversed. Two weeks went by, and the orders had been cancelled but my Amazon credit card ( issued by Synchrony ) had not been refunded. I contacted amazon numerous times, and they finally told me I needed to contact Synchrony Bank to have the charges reversed. I contacted Synchrony and opened a dispute. Several weeks went by, and I never heard anything from Synchrony or Amazon. I was forced to make a payment on the account to avoid late fees and a derogatory mark on my credit report. I contacted Synchrony and was told the dispute was closed due to lack of details, but they would open the dispute again. I have no faith in this process, given I already went through it before with no results. All of the charges that amazon told me would be reversed took place on - - and - -. There were a total of - charges, totalling $4000.00
