Payday loan Can't contact lender Can't contact lender California

I missed the payment date a few years back and forgot all about it, they never emailed, never called then all of a sudden today another company called Cash Advance emails me, telling me they are going to contact the police and that i 'm going to jail if i do n't pay them $640.00 via a - card. when i asked them why could i not do it with a money order and mail it to them they refused and now they are saying i have to get a lawyer and pay $8000.00. they also refused to allow me to make payment arrangements with the company i took the loan out with ( 2 years ago ).
