Medical Disclosure verification of debt Not given enough info to verify debt Colorado
I work for a company regulated by the FCRA and know that the statute seeks to not unduly burden the consumer, which is not atypical with laws that protect consumers. The collection agency that contacted me provided very limited information about the debt they were collecting. I have medical insurance and each time my insurance card was used. I have not received anything from a medical provider indicating that there is a balance outstanding. I requested more information from the collection agency and was told I had to submit the request via US Mail. This seems unduly burdensome particularly given the fact that they went through more than sufficient steps to validate me via telephone. They simply did not want to be bothered to send the information. I went ahead and paid it for fear of my credit being impacted and will now research it to try to ascertain its viability. When I paid it, I asked if I could receive something in writing confirming that the matter was resolved and was told that I could make that request in writing. I am in absolute disbelief.
