- transactions from the same retailer were pending and then voided by the retailer. The retailer never received the funds. Almost a week later, American Express still has the funds blocked and held. After numerous phone calls to their customer care team, and being transferred to at least 9 individuals, they said there is nothing they can do and to contact the merchant. After contacting the merchant, they confirmed they do not have the funds and have released the hold back to American Express.
