Amex Credit card department,
Credit determination California
AME- phoned me and invited me to apply for a gold AME- card. Said I was prequalified. So I applied over the phone, was denied. I appealed the denial - AME- says I was denied because my old AME- card was cancelled in 2003. That was thirteen years ago during the financial crisis I could n't pay my bills. I have over - credit now, always pay my bills, high credit lines on all my existing credit cards. Why wo n't AME- forgive and forget? It seems like it is a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act to hold something over seven years old against me. That old AME- debt was never pursued and was forgiven by AME-, it is legally extinguished.
