Bank of America Credit card department,
I purchase an airline ticket with - - on their US website for around - USD on -/-/-. The fare was quoted in USD and I paid in USD with my Bank of America ( BofA ) credit card. After I received my credit card statement I noticed BofA went on to charge me foreign transaction fee of - USD, which is not insignificant. However on the credit card statement the fare amount was in also in USD. I contacted - - on -/-/- complaining and they assured me that my ticket was paid in USD and not in - and was routed through their New York office. I contacted BofA on -/-/- to reverse the transaction fee and they told me to read my policy which states the foreign transaction fee. I told them what - told me that the funds were routed through their New York office. I told Bofa that this could not have been
Bofa kept being uncooperative, telling me that - - have their office in - hence the transaction fee. Even after - representatives I was getting nowhere. I asked the customer service rep to provide me with documentation that - did not charge me in USD but in -, including the exchange rate. The Bofa rep was still not cooperative. It 's fraudulent and misleading to charge - unaware customers illegal transaction fees. And especially if it a FORE- fee, Bofa needs to provide documentation and the exchange rate of such transaction.
