While attempting to buy a car -/-/2014, I discovered ERC was the only negative item on my credit report. Called ERC to find out who they were, they said they collected for -. They told me if I paid the amount, they would remove the account from my credit report and I could buy the car. I paid because I needed to buy the car right away, not because I agreed that I owed the debt. I dispute owing the debt to - because I had the account for several years prior and did not terminate any agreement early. However, ERC still remains on my credit report as a collections account, lowering my scores and preventing me from getting a mortgage and a new car at an affordable interest rate.
