Medical Disclosure verification of debt Not disclosed as an attempt to collect Kentucky
$1500.00 - - billing sent to collections, while in talks with original billing company. When I first received a call from Wakefield attempting to collect on outstanding debt on which they added $300.00 of interest to. After a couple of phone conversations with Wakefield, within the first month of the first contact with them, Wakefield asked that I send in a formal dispute with name, explanations, offered amounts, ect. I faxed the letter next day as well as certified mailed a copy to them, which they received two ( 2 ) days later. I never received one more phone call or mail correspondences since, and still have not to this date. Not until I had my credit report run was that it has been brought to my attention that I had a outstanding collections on my credit report from Wakefield, which has been active for 8 months, and is noted as under dispute.
Note : I never said that I did n't owe anything, my insurance company first billed this as " IN-NETWORK '', showing I owed $170.00 that was rejected by original medical billing company. then insurance billed at member rate for " Out-of-Network '' that was rejected. I did n't choose my anesthetist for my procedure, I did choose a IN-NETWORK doctor and Medical facility to have it done. I was firm in my dollar amount that I considered fair for the outstanding bill from the very beginning with both the original biller as well as Wakefield & Associates. Never was any document provided stating that Wakefield had the right to add interest to the amount, & - response or follow-up regarding my dispute letter faxed/mailed. Then reported the debt to the credit bureau and has never made any contact attempts since disputed eight months ago.
