I received a telephone call on my cell phone -/-/-, or -/-/-. The caller gave me my birth date and ask for the last - numbers of my social security number stating she could not tell me what the call was about until I gave her my personal information. She did say it was about owing money and maybe it was owed by someone else who put my name on it. Because we have all been warned not to give a caller our personal information, I told her she would need to contact me in writing through the postal service. She stated they had already done that. I have received no mail from a collection agency or from - - ( the company hiring the collection agency. ) I knew nothing about the incident until I received the call on my cell phone. I had - - year ago, but paid my bill on time and in it 's entirety. I dismissed it as a prank call. -/-/- I checked my credit report and the collection company had put it on my credit report as a delinquent collection. My credit score went down immediately. I am frustrated by the methods the collection company used to contact me and asked for private information without giving me a name of the company or other identifying information. My credit has decreased by so much and affects my credit. If the company would contact me with a legitimate name or give me information to call them, I 'm sure this can be worked out. The collection agency is Amsher Collection Agency. I wish to get this issue resolved.
