Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.) Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt resulted from identity theft Nevada
There is an account purchased by a company called Rash Curtis & Associates from -. I disputed this item with both the original creditor and the collection agency. This account was opened in my name fraudulently. When the company verified this account, there was no association to my social security number, driver 's license, or address. It just has a name that is close to mine. This company is refusing to follow the laws by removing this unverifiable, fraudulent account. I have contacted the original creditor, -, and -, said that there is no account opened using my personal identifying information. This account was opened in a different state and an address that I never lived in. The only thing that links this account to me, is a similar name. The person who opened this account has the same first and middle name as me, but a different last name. I sent this company and the original creditor proof of my residence at the time that this account was opened, a fraud affidavit and a dispute letter stating that this account was opened by identity theft. They are refusing to close this account and to stop reporting this account on my credit report. According to the original creditor, this account was opened and defaulted in -/-/-. They are reporting this account as opened in -/-/- to attempt to re-age this account. I have disputed this account with this company several times, explaining that this is not mine and since insist that my personal info was used to get this account, I filed a police report. I am preparing myself to bring civil charges against this company. I meet with an attorney tomorrow because they have violated the law and have caused me to be denied credit for a refinance which has caused me a financial hardship. I plan to bring suit to this company. I recently presented this information to the bureaus and am awaiting a response.
