Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem with fraud alerts California

An extended fraud alert was placed on -/-/- with Transunion File # -. I was told it would last 7 yrs : -. Sometime between -/-/- and -/-/-, an individual, who has been fraudulently using my Social Security Number for at least 12 years to try to open lines of credit and earn wages, was given access to my credit profile and was able to successfully change or add the name, address and fraud alert contact number to her own, therefore being able to successfully secure at least - lines of credit with a credit card company. This is unacceptable and does not make any sense. I specifically named her as an identity thief with the FTC and Transunion going back to -/-/-, -/-/- and -/-/-. On -/-/-, a Transunion representative says they are " repairing '' my credit profile, but refused to provide me with a copy of the credit file showing how my information had been manipulated so that I could add this info to the policy report and further protect myself. The other credit bureaus ask you to mail in your requests - which is leaving an victim of identity fraud open to more fraud ( mail theft???? ). This is a thoroughly maddening and disappointing process and something needs to be done so that the credit bureaus start adding layers of fraud protection and identity verification. It is harder to change info on my email account than it is to change info related to my SSN. This is unacceptable.
