Amex Credit card department,
CREDIT CARD : AME- - CREDIT CARD. PROBLEM : I made a payment to bring my balance owed to - in an effort to get out of debt so I can improve my credit score to purchase a home. However, after making the payment to bring my balance to -, AME- and - both charged interest on the purchases several days later. So, to my knowledge I had paid my balance in full then intentionally left the account open so it would help increase my credit score. I deleted my reminders to pay these cards since the balance was at - ( $0.00 ) and not until I got a MISSED PAYMENT notice AFTER being assessed a late penalty did I learn that several days after I made my full balance payment, they tacked on a small $16.00 " Interest Charge on Purchases '' a full 5 days after my full payment posted.
- as well. We 're not talking about a lot of money typically, but if someone is n't aware of fully understanding how interest on purchased in arrears is calculated the probability of a late charge being filed and reported to the credit bureaus negatively affecting a consumers credit increases significantly. SOLUTION : Simply reflect unpaid or un-billed Interest Charge on Purchases that are in arrears on current summary statements so the consumer can pay balance, and be immediately aware of the charges in arrears that will be showing up next month.
