I received a - from Ditech ( formally Greentree ). I also received a letter this week saying the - was incorrect stating it was a mortgage instead of a car lease. The original creditor had charged of this debt in -/-/-. They did not attempt to collect it from me nor put it on my credit report because they had accidentally repossessed the car while it was in current status. They then delivered the car to the wrong address and I found the vehicle a couple weeks later damaged. The original creditor refused to pay the damage and I of coarse refused to make any more payments until they did. 8 years later a company called Greentree was sent this debt as a mortgage. I hired an attorney and Greentree agreed to remove it from my credit report and cease collection activities. I then started receiving collection letters 3 years after the mtter had been resolved. The attorney that handled for me contacted Them and the stopped once again. Now Greentree has become Ditech and is trying to avoid paying federal income taxes by filing a - on this debt that charged off in -/-/- and the original creditor never attempted to collect from me nor ever pout on my credit report because of their error. This has been a very upsetting ordeal because I was forced to hire the attorney because Greentree would only yell at me when I called and would not let me explain this was not a mortgage debt. By not having the correct - by this date -/-/- it has made things very difficult for me because I do not want not file a tax return that is incorrect.
