I visited TransUnion 's website after my dad 's house was broken into in order to protect my identity after a computer with my data was stolen. I entered financial information that I thought was relavent to protecting my identity. TransUnion 's website emphasized that this services was FREE in all capital letters. At the end of the process I was charged $1.00. I was frustrated that this was n't disclosed prominently or in some sort of checkout page, however I assumed that this was a one-time charge like what the post office charges for changing your address online. I did not know, because of the absense of a checkout page, that TransUnion would charge me - dollars a month for their service. This charge was also not prominently displayed in their monthly emails but rather hidden in fine print on their website. I contacted customer support and was refunded less than half of the charges. I was transferred to a supervisor to get the remaining charges refunded and was rudely told no. I asked to speak to their supervisor and gave my phone number. This became a game of phone tag but I could not get through to them when I attempted to return their calls. They left me no extension to reach this person. I am requesting a refund in the amount of $36.00 - the remaining charges that TransUnion made on my account. I also ask that transunion display this as a clear monthly charge on a checkout page instead of misleading consumers with FREE in all capital letters. I requested this through the - however they were unable to encourage TransUnion to refund the charges. I also found on the - website that other consumers have had problems with this service. Thank you.
