We have a USBank credit card and received the 'free ' interest rate checks. The offer was 18 months no interest. We paid a dental bill with - check and interest to start - - if not paid in full. Later in the year they sent checks again offering 18 months with no interest. We used - check to pay for a hot water heater repair interest to start - -. Finally had to use the offer of 18 months with not interest. We used - check again to pay a dental bill. Now we have - outstanding amounts - is due to expire - -, - - - and - - -. We sent in a large payment expecting it to go the - - charge [ note as of last month no outstanding balance other than the checks on the card


When I called and finally talked with a supervisor asking for documentation that I should have received regarding this practice she stated the payments all GO to the HIGEST interest rate. Interesting all my - checks have the same interest rate. So I will be paying off the oldest amount first and will be charged interest on the others as they become due unless I borrow money to pay off the full amount before -. The supervisor stated they get a lot of complaints and they are looking into changing the rules. She did advise to make the minimum payment until -. Once I am charge interest on the - - invoice pay it in full. Then continue to make minimum payments until the - - invoice is due then pay in full or make higher payments and the payments will all go against the - invoice. - last thing we do have a small recurring charge for newspaper delivery. Now we have to also pay minimum interest of $2.00 due to the free interest total amount. Just removed that recurring charge to another card. I have only used a - - card with - finance for 18 months. Have had more than - purchase and they always apply to the oldest charge first. Never an issue. I will never use USBank card again.
