Amex Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Florida
I emailed and mailed the following to - -, CEO of Amex on -/-/- : Re : American Express Acct No. Ending in - & Amex Corp Card Ending in - Dear -, As an America Express member since - and a strong advocate of your company 's services, I am reaching out to you for assistance. I became unemployed in - of -. I immediately notified your company on account number ending in - that I wanted to be put on a payment plan. I was told I did n't qualify, but that I could continue making payments until the balance was paid off. I made payments every two weeks either on line or by phone. Each time I made a payment by phone and spoke with your representatives, I told them about my unemployment status, and not being put on a payment plan - I received the same answer which was to continue making payments until there was a - balance.
account was delinquent for so long, your process was to cancel the account. I explained several times that this information had never been provided to me, and the representative told me that I can apply for reinstatement if I agreed to pay $25.00. I grudgingly agreed to the fee and a week later I received a letter saying I was n't eligible for reinstatement. I again called and spoke to a manager who explained I can apply for reinstatement once the balance is paid in full. This was done on - -, -. What I am requesting is for the above reference account to be reinstated, along with my reward points that I 've paid for throughout the almost 30 years that I 've been a member. I 've been employed since - and I am capable of making timely payments. Your records will also indicate there was a delinquency on Amex Corp card ending in -. This delinquency was a result of my prior employer not approving the expenses in a timely manner. I 've enclosed their letter for your review which shows all charges, and late and cancellation fees were paid in full by -. I was contacted my - - from Amex on -/-/- who told me my account would not be reinstated and to read the terms and conditions. I then told him to give me a full refund of the annual reward program fees ( approx. $45.00 for 28 years ) and was told I was not eligible for a refund. I asked several times to speak to his manager or the CEO and was told repeatedly he had the final say and my situation had been reviewed with the CEO and he approved the decision. He then hung up on me - the call was recorded and this can be verified. Ironically enough I am being solicited for the blue, optima and corporate Amex cards on a weekly basis.
