Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Georgia

Apparently I owed a medical debt that just popped up on my credit report. The debt was for $130.00. It dropped my score dramatically, I contacted the collections agency and the debt was paid but they stated they do not remove items from credit reports. I did not receive proper notification that this debt was going into collections or that I owed any money. No one called or sent anything in the mail to let me know I had a debt to be paid. I just happened to check my credit report and noticed it there. Can you please help me get this removed? I am trying to purchase a home for my family and this is effecting my ability to be approved at this time.
