Amex Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Florida
I attempted to use my American Express card on -/-/-. The attempted charge was declined by AME-. I called AME- to check the status of the card. AME- stated the account was closed because AME- received a letter stating the account was created fraudulently and the card holder wanted the account closed. Without notice, explanation or permission, AME- closed my account. The account is in good standing and payments are made timely. I have had the account since -/-/-. I did not ( nor did anyone I know ) send a letter to AME- telling them to close the account. AME- is aware of my concerns and suggested that I file a police report. I suspect that the letter ( which AME- would not release ) contained enough sensitive information for AME- to act and close the account. Which means the party that filed the letter probably has my DOB, SSN, address, account numbers and other sensitive information.
