Other (phone, health club, etc.) Disclosure verification of debt Right to dispute notice not received Texas
I started getting calls from - - - at - a month ago. They said I had an overdraft with US Bank sometime around 1995. I did not remember an overdraft so they told me to call US Bank. US Bank said they had no records left, had sold the account to - -, -. I contacted - -. and told them how many phone messages and emails I had sent - to verify debt and they said they would contact - for me. Then a week later I get a call from someone who would n't give me their name saying I was going to receive a summons. I asked why and they told me to call - -. I called and they put the guy in charge '' on the phone who told me that - did n't have to return my call and since they were taking me to court and plan to win they did n't have to give me verification of debt. They also said I would go to jail for writing bad checks. I do not ever recall writing a bad check. Then the guy said I had one chance to accept a settlement and my answer would be recorded for court and jail. I said without verification I did n't feel comfortable settling for sending anyone money. He was rude and scary and said they will win in court and I was going to jail. I 'm frightened. All I wanted was paperwork confirming this debt.
