U.S. Bancorp Consumer loan department,
Installment loan Problems when you are unable to pay California
My wife and I took out a loan over twenty years ago with the - - - to help our son start his own business. Interest only was paid on this note for approximately 15 years during which time US Bank purchased - - and our note. Our son faced difficulty in the construction business plus - of his young children developed - health problems. I continued to pay this note and never missed a payment, even after a terrible down turn in the economy in 2008 which affected us greatly. I am a veteran - years old and my wife is -. It became impossible for us to make anymore payments living on our fixed income. The note was $120000.00 - we paid $1200.00 per month for 180 months ( totaling $210000.00 ) plus $50000.00 on the principal - so over the 20 years of making payments, we have paid back $260000.00 on a $120000.00 note. US Bank is trying to collect an additional $75000.00 ; however, this is impossible for us. We have attempted to settle the debt for as much as $7000.00 ; however, US Bank will not accept what little money we have left. I do not see how this is right considering the amount we have paid on this debt, in addition to our settlement offers in good faith to resolve the matter.
