Incorrect information on credit report Account terms Tennessee

My son borrowed the money this is a school loan, he is not currently enrolled in school and was unemployed they ask for me to pay it in full harassed me on a daily basis to pay this loan in full. Now its on my credit report as a collection. Should this affect my credit and my sons both? My son is currently making payments. So is it still a collection and and why is it affecting us both. Can They ask for payment in full or else. I thought a student loan was paid in installments until it is paid off not called to be paid in full when creditor feels like it. This is wrong some how!
