I had a debt that was sent to collections without my knowledge. The debt collection company, CMRE, had the wrong mailing address. Then I updated my address with both the hospital and CMRE. The hospital billing department corrected their mistake, and I was reassured by both CMRE and the hospital that everything was taken care of. Several months later, I try to refinance my condo, and it turns out CMRE still has an outstanding debt on my credit report. I call them and they still have the wrong billing address, and I have still had absolutely no notifications or contact with them. And interest has being compiling this whole time. I settle the outstanding bill because I do n't have time to wait for the hospital billing department or wait for my health insurance to settle the claim, since I need the refinance with the bank. CMRE still has n't sent a letter that confirms deletion of the outstanding debt on my credit report and I have no confirmation that I have paid the bill in full. Other than the big charge on the credit card. Now that I do n't owe CMRE any money, they have literally hung up the phone -, transferred me to a nonworking extension, and transferred me to their supervisor who despite leaving voice mails has never returned my calls. They tell me over and over again the letter has been sent, but I still have n't received a deletion confirmation letter than I can submit to the bank for the refinance. They claim they ca n't e-mail a password protected file, they ca n't fax a letter, they ca n't send certified a letter, and they ca n't regenerate the letter and send it again. After all this, I am not surprised I have n't received a confirmation of deletion or a confirmation of payment, since for months, they did n't have my billing address correct and I have never had any contact with them.
