Credit determination

Amex Credit card department,

Credit determination Texas

My wife 's American Express statement showed she owed $4700.00 in charges for the month of -. The balance was to be paid in full by - -, 2015. Only - -, 2015, I posted the full payment against my - account on the American Express website, and American Express posted my payment to its account on - -, 2015. On the same date, - -, American Express sent a letter to my wife stating it was reporting a late payment to the credit bureau, and notified the credit bureau that there was an outstanding balance of $4700.00 due American Express. - picked up the information because I filed an application to refinance my mortgage, and concluded that the information adversely affected by wife 's credit rating score. American Express states that it automatically reports balances due and that the report has nothing to do with a credit rating unless the credit cardholder is late in payment or in default for payment. But that 's not the way banks interpret the reporting. Although American Express was paid on - -, the charge of $4700.00 was still on the credit bureau report as of - - Credit card companies should be prohibited from reporting charges to credit bureau unless the account is past due or the cardholder is in fault of payment.
