Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Maryland
From -/-/- to -/-/-, my son and myself had several emergency medical treatments at - - - -. During that time, I worked as a - of - - and was assigned to -. It was only after going to the emergency room and receiving a bill that I learned my son and I did not have coverage. At the time, I was not prepared to pay the bills and did ignore their repeated attempts to contact me. In -/-/-, I moved to another department at - and was working for a new company with adequate health insurance coverage. My new position required that I obtain a - security clearance and as such had my annual credit report pulled. Through reviewing the credit report, I contacted - - - - and - - - about paying the bills. I paid some of the bills and promised to follow-up in a couple of weeks to pay the remaining charges. Additionally, a collection agency contacted me about other charges - and I also paid some of those bills. A - of weeks later I re-contacted - - - - and paid off all the charges. Since that time, the original collection agency
collection agency to collect funds from me. All of those companies removed the erroneous information from my credit report. In - of -, I was contacted by - stating that I owed - - - - and that they had been hired by - - - to collect the funds. I told them I did not owe any funds and forwarded the invoices available via email to their attention. I also contacted the Oklahoma State Attorney 's Office and Consumer Financial Protection in writing. The - - - agency told me via email that the account would be closed and that I would no longer be contacted. -/-/-, I was contacted by the Commonwealth Financial Systems via mail as they had been hired by - -. I immediately contacted them and told them no funds were owed. They asked that I send an email with the back-up - of which I did. Today ( -/-/- ) I received another letter from the company and immediately contacted them. I stated I had forwarded via email the only information available from - - - - and that per their records - I owe no funds and they did not hire this company to collect any funds. Note - Commonwealth Financial Systems never responded to my email and/or informed me that additional information was needed until the letter dated -/-/- arrived in the mail today. I responsibly took care of any funds owed and spoke with - - - - and - - - that no funds were owed. What I ca n't understand is why are these companies allowed to ruin my credit - without them contacting the creditors to confirm if funds are or are not owed. I simply want to close-out this issue and am asking for your assistance. For the last couple of days I 've been dealing with a sick related at - - - - - and - - provides excellent services - and ca n't thank them enough for how they have treated me, my son, and other family members - but I need this issue closed as I do n't owe them any funds. Please help.
