I opened a 24 month CD on-line. On my - statement I noticed a deduction of $38.00 for Backup Withholding ''. I called the customer service number and after being on hold for - minutes I was told that backup withholding '' was deducted from an account when the social security number was n't available. They verified that mine was available, had always been available and that it was an error. They gave me a case # ( - ) and said I would be contacted in - hours. That was 10 days ago. I received an email telling me there was a message for me in the customer message center. The customer message center has n't worked in over a week. No one on the phone cal tell me what the message is or the status of my problem. No email, no live chat, a message center that does n't work and a calling center that just does n't care adds up to horrible customer service.
