In -/-/- I studied - in -, - via a program through - University while I was attending - College - in -, IL as an - student. I was awarded a certain amount of student loans to make this trip possible, in particular a federal grant ( not a loan ) that amounted between $ 5,500- $5600.00. Because I was not attending - College for the -/-/- - due to my study - program, these monies were applied to my study - trip. I was later toldby the financial aid office at - three months before my -/-/- completion date that the grant to the amount of $5500.00 was reapplied to my -/-/- - semester without knowledge. I never signed or made any written or verbal agreement with - College, nor did my parents, to reapply funds from my study - program to my - program. - College then attempted to tell me because they reapplied those funds without my knowledge or permission that I was now responsible in paying them back $5500.00 because of adecision the financial aid office made without my knowledge or permission or that of my parents. I will not be held financially responsible for the poor decision making by - College - 's financial aid office. The financial aid office waited to inform me of this debt before I was set to complete my degree in order to impede me from receiving my diploma in an attempt to force me to pay more monies than I owed and force me into taking another semester of courses as they would not transfer my credits from my study - program because of the debt they claimed I owed. I want confirmation in writing that - College - is responsible for the $5800.00 debt and that it will be removed from my credit report and that I will not be held responsible for paying back any portion of this debt I did not incur.
