I attended - - with the promise that I would be offered hands on training in the - - -, have immediate job placement after or possibly during completion, and that my entire education would be covered by federal grants and loans. I was rushed through the financial aid process without any mention of the cost of enrollment, or the amount of loans being taken out. The promissory note I did sign did not list loan amounts or interest rates. Each time I asked the school, I was unable to obtain the information. It was n't until after transferred to another school, that I was told by another financial aid department how many private loans were taken out for me by - -. All of them were private loans, none of which can be consolidated to lower the interest rate. For a single semester, I was charged approx $17000.00. If my status had been correctly assessed, I would have been eligible for federal loans and grants. I could have even possibly used my Father 's -. None of this was explained to me, I had no idea the loans I signed for were not federal. None of the credits I earned were transferable to any other institution- therefore my time and money were wasted. The instruction was not hands on, and the equipment and technology used by the school was outdated at best.
