A couple of weeks ago we rec 'd a letter with our banks name/logo to apply for a credit card witih a 5.99 % APR on balance transfers for life. We applied on-line. We rec 'd the new credit cards in the mail. Thinking this is great as we would save over $ 80 monthly in interest by using this balance transfer and lowering the interest. We activated the cards on-line. As I was completing the customer profile I was looking for our monthly payment information since I had thought the balance transfers had been done. But it showed a Zero balance and a $1000.00 credit limit at 16 %. This is NOT the card we applied for. We feel like we have been defrauded, victims of a Bait and Switch. We do not want, or need, another credit card unless able to utilized one with a much lower interest rate. Only after activation did we learn this is NOT what we need. I took the letter and cards to our bank and learned that it was NOT our bank. It is some affiliate with a similar name. If we can not take advantage of the offered low interest rate on balance transfers we do NOT want the card at all. I looked up the bank and called them. I learned that this card does have the 5.99 % onl balance transfers. I expllained that our application listed the details of the accounts and balances that we had applied to transfer, that a $1000.00 limit was not sufficient to take advantage of the transfer, asked if the credit limit could be increased. We were refused. We immediately canceled the cards.
