GE Capital Retail Credit card department,
I received a letter dated -/-/- from Synchrony Bank regarding my Care Credit claim. The letter stated my account would be credited for the amount of the award I received from the claim in accordance with the terms of the CFPB agreement. I received a statement on -/-/- that my account was credited $300.00. When the claim was initially filed against Care Credit, I was told by Care Credit that the disputed amount on my account was $390.00, not $300.00. When I contacted Synchrony Bank on -/-/- to inquire why the amount was different from what I was originally told, I was informed that the amount had been pro rated. I asked for an explanation on the procedure used to pro rate the award and was told that they could not provide me an explanation because the amount had been determined by CFPB. I informed Synchrony Bank that I wanted to dispute the amount until I was provided with an explanation of the difference and was informed I could not dispute the amount. I asked for a phone number for CFPB which they provided. I contacted CFPB but the representative was not able to explain why my account had been
inquire about the difference and was informed that the $390.00 was the amount of finance charges in dispute related the the complaint filed with CFPB. Since -/-/-, that amount has remained unchanged and I have received monthly statements from Care Credit indicating my balance was $390.00. Since Care Credit determined the amount of my account that was in dispute, I am requesting an answer from the company about the difference. My account now shows I owe a balance of $89.00 after the $300.00 credit was applied ( $290.00 finance charge refund on -/-/- and $13.00 finance charge refund on -/-/- ). I feel I should have been credited $390.00 as I was originally informed this was the amount of finance charges in dispute and the company did not explain why I was credited a lesser amount.
