I am applying to buy a house, when I checked my credit report I noticed that there was a recently placed collection agency debt from 2013. I called - - - because that is where the debt is from and they told me to call the collection agency because they did not have my account number on file. When I called the collection agency about this debt they asked the usually questions and I found out that they had the wrong name on the account. When I asked if it could be removed I was told to contact the credit bureau because they are the ones that made the mistake. I told them that the bureau only reports the information that is given to them and that the company supplied the wrong name. They refuse to admit to the mistake and contact the bureau regarding this matter.
