At the end of last year I discontinued my - service after nearly 20 years. The customer service rep I spoke with indicated I would be billed for the partial month of service in the amount of approximately $35.00. During that conversation the customer service rep mentioned I was also liable for a two-year contract '' that included a $150.00 fee, and that my final bill was $180.00. I asked to see this contract '' I had allegedly signed and was told the contract automatically kicked in when I upgraded my service package a year earlier. I spent nearly - minutes on the phone ( much of it on hold ) while I objected to this early terminate fee. Eventually the customer service


insisted the $150.00 fee was valid. I explained that - weeks earlier I was assured the fee would not be applied to my final bill. The rep refused to budge, and informed me that if I failed to pay the additional $150.00 - - would submit to remaining fee to a bill collection agency. They told me not to bother sending a check for $35.00 because it was insufficient to close my account. Two weeks ago a firm called - started calling my home phone number -- times per day, at all hours, leaving messages that the purpose of their call was an attempt to collect a debt and any information I provided would be used for that purpose. I have not answered any of these calls, and they have sent invoices in the amount of $180.00 so I am assuming that this is related to - as I do not have any other outstanding debts, and am concerned this will impact my otherwise unblemished credit rating.
