Checking account Account opening, closing, or management Florida
I had a checking and savings account with Wells Fargo, I called them in mid - to close both since I no longer had them servicing my mortgage. When I called I was told by a representative that there was a pending transaction and I had to wait until the following business day to close both accounts so the payment could post. I called back the following day and successfully closed both accounts. Wells Fargo sent me - checks from the remaining balance in both accounts. Today Wells Fargo called me and told me that the payment they had told me posted had n't actually posted and that I owed them $100.00. This was for the $33.00 payment which they told me posted and then - overdraft fees. - - $35.00 - for the $33.00 charge and - ( $35.00 ) for - of the checks they had sent me after closing my account. I told them I would send them a check for the $33.00 and they informed me that since my account ( which had been closed and they confirmed in writing ) was now open again without my permission I would have to write a letter, have it notarized and wait an additional - - 10 business days after they received it for my account to be closed again. So they lied and re-opened my account without my permission and tried to extort me for - overdraft fees.
