Credit card Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid North Carolina
S & R got a judgment against me for - old accounts from -/-/- in -/-/- for $7000.00. I started making payments after they got the judgmet. I lost my job and was in the middle of a divorce but I kept paying. My old lawyer paid the debt off in -/-/- from settlemet funds during the divorce but I did not know this until recently. From -/-/- until -/-/-, I continued to pay $100.00 every month even if I did n't have it. I was send letters and they called me all the time. I would ask them for the balance and they would not send me any thing. I asked fro receipts and they would not give them to me. They told me they did not know the balances. This year in -/-/- I had a friend call with me to ask for a copy of the judgments and account information but they would not talk with me. I called again in -/-/- asking for how much I owed because they sent me a letter saying I owed nearly $5000.00. I got a letter in -/-/- from the court saying I owed more than $7000.00. They sent the sherrif to my house. I have paid more $9000.00 plus my old lawyer paid another $5000.00 on a $7000.00 debt and they say I still owe more than $7000.00. The court say I owe 8 % interest since -/-/- but that does not add up to another $7000.00 when I have paid $14000.00 already. The court does not show all the payments I sent the law offices. They wll not tell me why I owe so much and I canot afford amother lawyer to help me because I do not have a job. I went to Legal Services and they will not tell them any thing either. I ca n't sleep and I am stressed out over all of this. No one will help me. Please help me take care of this and make them stop.
