-/-/- I had a medical procedure completed at - - in -, IL ( part of - and recently acquired by - - ). At the time I had the procedure done, I thought I had insurance. Since I had not received a bill from the hospital, I did not know there was anything still outstanding. In -/-/- ( over 2 years later ), - sent me a bill for the first time stating that - - - - ( - ) had paid the bill, then took the money back on -/-/-. I immediately called - and filled a hardship application, which was approved for 100 % financial assistance on -/-/-. I also filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Insurance ( IDOI ) against -. My claim against - was reviewed, and they repaid the insurance portion on -/-/-. I immediately contacted - - to inform them that my efforts had resulted in them recouping the $4400.00 back from -. - - acknowledged that they received the - payment. On -/-/-, - - issued me an invoice for the 20 % co-pay that - did not cover $240.00, even though the entire amount of $4700.00 had previously
still in force. In addition, my account was sent to collections apparently the same day I was sent the invoice ; and I was never even given an opportunity to resolve the issue with - - before they sent my account to collections. Also on -/-/- I attempted to contact a manager at - - / - -, because clearly there is a procedural problem with their billing department. When I called the billing number -, I was told that I could not have that information. I have tried searching online for the information and there is no clear way to contact anyone at the executive level to bring this to their attention.
