I was contacted via phone from a private number in which a male left me a voicemail stating that someone would be serving me papers at my home and place of employment which he said he would require a signature from my manager. He left a number to call - and a case # -. I contacted that number and a person by the name of - - at Bayside Capital Services answered. He did not during the course of our call state he was a debt collector nor did he state the required FDCPA statement. This is an attempt to collect a debt ... He demanded payment right away and told me that he is licensed in litigation in - states. He threated that a lawsuit would be filed if I did n't pay the balance owed today. We worked out an arrangement and I asked him for some type of proof that he is who is says he is. - minutes later I received an email with a word document ( see attached ) in which I felt looked a bit on the forged side. I contacted the creditor and they told me they have never heard of Bayside Capital Services nor was the amount was the creditor had on file the same amount as Bayside. I then did a little research on Bayside and read that a few others had the same experience as I. I then contacted - and asked him for his debt collector license because I felt there was something very suspicious about the entire conversation, - told me, after an uncomfortable pause, there are many departments and he does n't have the number then he got angry with me and told me he was never going to give me the number and started to raise his voice even further. I then hung up because I felt that the whole thing was a scam and he was trying to steal money from me. I feel that these people illegally got information from my credit report and are trying to steal money.
